St George’s Cathedral, Southwark, formally the Metropolitan Cathedral Church of St George, is the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Southwark, which covers the London boroughs south of the Thames, the county of Kent and the Medway Unitary Authority.

Music
St George's Cathedral has a well-established musical tradition, with a diversity of styles represented at the different Masses, ranging from congregational hymns and Mass settings at the 10am Family Mass sung by the Cathedral Consort youth choir, through plainsong and polyphony at the 12pm Solemn Mass sung by the Cathedral Choir of choristers and lay clerks. There is also a Junior Choir for younger children and the Cathedral runs the Southwark Singing Programme.

Oasis Foodbank: Distribution Point

Steve Chalke from Oasis, a Christian charity that oversees a wide range of important social initiatives, is holding a meeting this Sunday 22 January from 1.15–2.15pm in the Amigo Hall to share his ideas and to ask for volunteers to assist with a proposed Cathedral distribution point (in the Amigo Hall) for the Waterloo Food Bank. Bible Study (2022)

On Sunday 22 January we celebrate the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time, which has been titled “Sunday of the Word of God”. The Church encourages us to seek to know God’s Word better. A Cathedral parish bible study group will be launching soon, with a view to helping those who wish to deepen their knowledge of Sacred Scripture. Read more
