St George’s Cathedral, Southwark, formally the Metropolitan Cathedral Church of St George, is the Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Southwark, which covers the London boroughs south of the Thames, the county of Kent and the Medway Unitary Authority.

Music
St George's Cathedral has a well-established musical tradition, with a diversity of styles represented at the different Masses, ranging from congregational hymns and Mass settings at the 10am Family Mass sung by the Cathedral Consort youth choir, through plainsong and polyphony at the 12pm Solemn Mass sung by the Cathedral Choir of choristers and lay clerks. There is also a Junior Choir for younger children and the Cathedral runs the Southwark Singing Programme.

Evening Masses for Solemnities

On Thursday 23 June there will be an additional 6pm Solemn Mass as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist, while on Friday 24 June we will have an additional 6pm Solemn Mass for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Please note that the latter will supplant our usual 6pm Friday Adoration; confessions will be heard between 6pm & 7pm as per usual.
